Friday 18th Cardiff Canton Singers pub crawl – our annual pub crawl around the pubs of Canton/Riverside and Pontcanna – to raise funds for Shelter Cymru.

This year we started at the Beverly and pretty much stayed around Pontcanna. We had some interesting reactions along the way – seemed to unwittingly provoke a bit of a “sing off” in Y Mochyn Du with our rendition of Gaudette – leading to the customers singing “Mae Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau” (Which we all joined in with) – somehow this lead to “Swing Low”!! Our best response to this had to be Shosholoza and then a quick retreat!! …then we sang a few songs (Including a self indulgent “There must be an Angel”) to the beer garden people. ~very generous crowd!

We had a lovely relaxed sing of “Oh Holy Night” outside the Conway as the weather was so warm, sang it again indoors and then were asked for more songs and summoned up Calon Lan and a couple of non Christmassy songs as well as one of our last renditions of Only You – travelled to the Robin Hood for our last “sing” before landing at the Beverly again at the end – which was quite noisy so we didn’t have our usual sing song of our non Christmas repertoire to end but sang some extra Christmas songs whilst the counters added up the takings….A staggering £365.48p was raised for Shelter Cymru! Well done singers and thanks to the pubs for having us – and all who donated!

Great fun evening!
