Cardiff Canton Singers
Celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2025! The choir s made up of a beautifully diverse mix of human beings, with a rousing and fun bass section!
We meet Thursday evenings at Conway Road Methodist Church – the basement 7-9pm. This is an accessible space with ramp and disabled toilets. Parking is mostly found within a 5 minute walk and there are buses that stop outside the church. Bikes are welcome in the hall, try not to leave a muddy trail!

Term fees are usually up front and currently work out as £7 per session as a block. Terms are anything from 10 weeks to 14 depending on eg. the school term

Chapter Singers (Cardiff)
Also age 20 in 2025! We meet on Friday mornings, 9.30 – 11.30am in the Media Point room upstairs of Chapter Arts Centre. There is a lift and everything is accessible.
Chapter choir has limited capacity so places are limited. We have male basses but would prioritise welcoming more!
A 2 minute walk to the bustling Cowbridge Road East where many busses regularly pass. There is a bike lock up in front of the building. Parking is to the rear of the building in the car park.

We are a very welcoming group who love to coffee and chat in the café after sessions! It’s a pretty full group. Anyone identifying as male or mx gender are currently prioritised.

Porthkerry Community Choir (Barry)
We meet on Friday afternoons – 1.30 – 3pm at St Francis Millennium Centre, Park Road, Barry CF626NX (opposite Barry Castle – near to the entrance of Porthkerry Park.
This choir is the most local to my home and has become a very lovely way for us all to wind down to the weekend. The choir have a variety of relaxed and non-compulsory events throughout the year. Annually joining our friends in the Cardiff and Newport choirs for more large-scale singing antics!

WOW Choir (Cardiff)
Wales One World Choir (formerly Oasis One World Choir)is a community arts organisation specifically for people who have been displaced from their home countries. 2025 sees our 10th anniversary from when it was first formed as an idea by project manager Tracy Pallant.
Our team of staff has expanded to include people with lived experience of going through the traumatic journey of having to seek sanctuary in a new country.

Anyone with lived experience of seeking sanctuary is welcome to join. We meet in Cardiff on Mondays.
Women’s group: 11.00 – 12.30 at the Trinity Centre Splott.
Mixed afternoon wellbeing session 1-2.30
WOW Youth project 4 – 5pm
Adult evening session 5.30 – 7pm
Currently we don’t have any more spaces for UK born volunteers.

Newport Mind Choir (Newport)
The group is relatively small, safe space – and a lot of singing mindfulness, creativity and laughter ensues. We perform at the annual Mind fundraising concert at the beautiful St Woolos Cathedral alongside friends from Take a Breath Choir.

Take A Breath Choir (Newport)
Take a Breath Choir was set up by Sally Ann Evans, Community Arts development lead at the Riverfront Theatre,as we came out of Covid lockdown as a wellbeing and relaxed sing for the public and for those who may have been dealing with particular health and wellbeing issues. The choir has expanded to have a regular mix of 25 choir members.
We occasionally get out and about with the help of some community transport accessed via Newport Live.
Our events have included singing with all of my other choirs for a joint concert in the lovely St John’s Church, Canton to raise funds for Sing For Water London, with Wild Woman of the Wye Angela Jones as part of Save the River Usk festival alongside our friends at WOW Choir, A regular foyer performance for St David’s Day where we do attempt an array of Welsh language songs.
In Christmas 2024, we were invited to perform with Sinfonia Cymru and added a song we’d created with music for the musicians created by Laura . “Dancing Round the Christmas Tree” (To save on electricity) We’ve been invited to do another event together this December.
We recently joined together with the Newport Mind choir to sing as the Marathon Runners were running past. Each choir creating a special song to motivate the runners.
Joining with the Wallich project Our Story to perform within their Newport play .
We regularly create songs, which proves to be a lot of fun and very engaging, including some Welsh language sections. Annual performances as part of Newport’s’ massive Big Splash Festival alongside our friends at WOW Choir, Mind.
