“Bread and Roses” (Myself, Frankie Armstrong and Pauline Down) sang a song based on the words of Malala Ysafzai – music written by myself – as part of a “special” event in the main cinema at Chapter. “A Story of Strength” – a very short song – with words to summarise Malala’s story and challenging others to follow…
This was a WOW film club (http://www.wowfilmfestival.com/en/ ) special screening of “He Named Me Malala” at Chapter organized by artist/ humanitarian/activist Rabab Ghazoul http://www.rababghazoul.com/ . Rabab organizes WOW (Wales One World film showings for minority and wider communities of Cardiff and has recently taken showings to the refugee centres. These have been a huge success and it is really heartening that people are actively getting together despite background, culture and religion. A huge by-product of these film showings is that people actually get together to talk – building their communities and opening each others’ minds.
