The Chapter Singers sing at Romilly Care Home in Canton every now and again and had been invited to the home this day. As we had already ended our term I arranged to meet the singers actually at the residential home. Just as we were all arriving there was a huge downpour – so maybe a couple of people had a bit of a soaking?
Anyway – we did our usual of singing some of our Christmas and other repertoire then taking requests – and even listening to a couple of residents with their singing – which was a delight! Then about half way through the choir dispersed themselves around the huge lounge and sang with the residents kind of like a bigger choir – but also with more opportunity for eye contact and motivating people to join in even more. I’m so proud of the choir and their ability to do this it is quite a skill to blend that with the singing sensitively together as well as other issues involved with singing in a care home. Beautiful singing a beautiful warmth wrapped around the residents.
